Another launch

Proud to announce the launch of another site. I’m on fire! This time for my wifey since she’s entering a higher exposure world with her blog it needed a makeover.

Check it out: Ka-Ka-Ka-Katy!

Launched

I’ve been working on a site (blog) design for a client for the past few months and now I’m proud to announce that it has launched officially. Point your browsers over to myeverydayadventures.com to see my latest design thing. Also to conincide with the client’s attendence to BlogHer 2009 I designed a two-sided business card which I hope to display here soon. The exciting thing about the card is that it made it into the fashion design guru of Tim Gunn’s pocket at BlogHer. If you don’t know who he is there’s no point in explaining, but it is a big deal! My wife flipped out over it so it’s a big deal.

Take a look. My head is currently soaking up the kudos posted in the comments from her announcement post. I hope to post my sketches and comps soon because it was a great process that I’d like to share the evolution of the design.

Ciao.

Designing things

I’m excitedly in the midst of designing business cards and a blog site and feeling like a kid in a candy store with many grand ideas, but stressing to focus on singular ideas. No worries. I’ll figure it out. Pretty happy with the direction this far and can’t wait to show my work.

I’m in a pretty good place professionally and freelance wise right now. Freedom to design in the corporate world is a pleasant surprise. Happy to see some renewed focus to innovate and let us do our jobs. This certainly helps morale.

Feels good to be back at living to my self titled moniker “designer of things.”

Happy Momma Day

A Happy Momma’s Day to the bestest mother of my daughter, KaKaKaKaty.

On April 1st (no joke) I get the pleasure of attending my first conference/workshop for Progressive. I will be attending Adaptive Path: Good Design Faster in San Francisco. After conducting thorough research on hotels that are somewhat close to the workshop I am excited about my upcoming stay at Hotel Vertigo in (S)Nob Hill. I’m not a chain person when it comes to restaurants and hotels and it tickles me pink to have found a boutique-y place with such a history and cheap! First of all it was used in the incredible Alfred Hitchcock classic Vertigo (hence the name of the hotel). Secondly, the cheap I just mentioned equates to less than $300 total for 3 nights! This is San Francisco! The hotel rennovations are not yet completed, but the rooms are supposedly. I will be sure to write a post after my stay to detail whether my experience lives up to the expectations set by the photos and the website. If what I read on Trip Advisor are any indication I think it just might meet or exceed expectations.

As for why this is my design thing pick of the week I’m in the middle of designing an educator’s own personal website (stay tuned) and I keep going back the hotel’s website looking at the photos for inspiration. I love the colors and the overall package that the hotel is trying to sell. I can’t wait for the live experience. See you next week until then enjoy.
